Phil Jones
Phil Jones was born in Auckland in 1967 to a middle-class family. He and his brother tried various business ideas in an effort to improve the family’s struggling financial position; some worked, some didn’t, but through the process Phil learnt the value of investing, money, business and hard work.
At 16, Phil left school to become an electrician. After falling through two ceilings, getting covered in grime and realising he wasn’t achieving the financial results he wanted, he decided to move on to another challenge. He joined a struggling telecommunications company, which was losing $5,000 a month, and in the following years built a reputation as the company’s corporate troubleshooter and change agent.
Nine-and-a-half years later, his boss decided to sell the business and take a $13.5 million pay cheque. A stark reality set in: not only was he going to be out of a job, but for nearly ten years of his life he had been building wealth for someone else! He had nothing. It was in that moment that Phil made the decision to never be an employee ever again. He was determined to find a way to take control of his own financial future and become the author of his own destiny. Today Phil, with his wife Corinna, operates an international group of companies, including Richmastery, New Zealand’s largest real estate education business. They have featured in dozens of newspaper and magazine articles, as well as on television and radio. Phil has been involved in the negotiation of hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate purchases, is the author of six books, and is a highly-respected business and property public speaker.
Phil and Corinna are extraordinarily proud of their two children, Jack and Cheinnelle. Phil is passionate about life, his family, empowering others and his Ferrari.
